Research shows the intense religious participation of the rentier sector in the protection of its capital and interest, and its progressive decline during the nineteenth century due to its inability to obtain new contributions of cash, to recapitalize interests, to react to competition of foreign capital, and to protect itself from the greed of powerful and important political groups who sought to appropriate its wealth.

La investigación demuestra la intensa participación del sector rentista religioso en la protección de sus capitales e intereses y su progresiva decadencia durante el siglo XIX, debido a la incapacidad para obtener nuevos aportes de numerario, recapitalizar intereses, reaccionar ante la competencia de capital foráneo y protegerse de la apetencia de poderosos e importantes grupos políticos que buscaban apropiarse de sus caudales.
