본 발명은 통계적 기계 번역에 관한 것으로, 병렬 말뭉치로부터 구문 구조 변환 지식과 어휘 변환 지식을 추출하여 각각의 변환 확률을 추출하는 동시에 단일 말뭉치로부터 타겟 언어에 대한 생성 확률을 획득하고, 이들 각각의 변환 지식과 확률을 번역 모델 학습기를 통해 학습시켜 가중치를 둔 번역 모델을 모델링하며, 이렇게 모델링된 번역 모델을 실시간으로 입력된 소스 문장에 대해 적용하여 구문 구조 변환기 및 어휘 변환기의 디코딩 과정을 거침으로써 타겟 문장을 생성하여, 기존의 구 기반 통계적 기계 번역(Phrase-Based SMT)과 구문 구조 기반 통계적 기계 번역(Syntax-Based SMT)의 단점을 해소하고 장점은 결합하고자 하는 기계 번역 장치 및 기계 번역 방법을 제공한다.
