I think St. John of Avila, the Spanish priest and mystic, was agreeing with St. Vincent de Paul’s charism when he taught us that just as we look at ourselves, listen to stories and experience films, we see our neighbor with human eyes, and so when we look at Christ we will see our neighbor with Christian eyes, ...with the eyes of Christ.....will see and experience how very right it is that we are obligated to endure and love our neighbor: Christ loved and esteemed them as the head loves his own body, as the husband loves his wife, as brothers and sisters love one another, as our loving father loves his children.

Creo que san Juan de Ávila, el sacerdote y místico español, estaba de acuerdo con el carisma de San Vicente de Paúl cuando nos enseñó que así como nos miramos a nosotros mismos, escuchamos historias y experimentamos películas, vemos a nuestro prójimo con ojos humanos, y entonces cuando miramos a Cristo veremos a nuestro prójimo con ojos cristianos... con los ojos de Cristo... veremos y experimentaremos cuán cierto es que estamos obligados a soportar y amar a nuestro prójimo: Cristo los amó y los estimó como la cabeza ama a su propio cuerpo, como el marido ama a su esposa, como se aman los hermanos, como nuestro amoroso padre ama a sus hijos.
