Health workers say that the ministry should find out the facts of cholera spread in the Kathmandu Valley by coordinating with the stakeholders including water utility and metropolitan city. “Though it is said that the water supplied in the Kathmandu valley is chlorinated to make it safe, we have not found chlorine while testing the water,” said Prof. Dr. Rai. “In random sampling, we have not found the right level of chlorine in the water supplied in different parts of the Kathmandu valley,” said Prof. Dr. Rai, adding, “Level of chlorine should be increased as the water supplied in the rainy season contains more organic pollution.”

उपत्यकामा वितरित खानेपानी शुद्धिकरणका लागि क्लोरिन प्रयोग गरेको भनिए पनि परीक्षण गर्दा क्लोरिन नदेखिएको प्रा. डा. राई बताउँछन् । हामीले स्वतन्त्र परीक्षण गर्दा उपत्यकाको धेरै ठाउँको खानेपानीमा क्लोरिनको सही स्तर देखेनौ' उपत्यकाका विभिन्न क्षेत्रमा आफूले गरेको खानेपानी परीक्षणको नतिजालाई औल्याउँदै प्रा. डा. राई भन्छन् 'वर्षायाममा वितरण गरिएको खानेपानीमा अझ बढी जैविक र अर्गेनिक प्रदूषण देखिने गरेकाले क्लोरिनको मात्रा बढाउनुपर्छ ।' राईका अनुसार खानेपानीको पाइपलाइनमा चुहावट लगायतका समस्याले गर्दा चिसो याममा दिने क्लोरिनको मात्राको दाँजोमा वर्षायाममा थप उपयुक्त क्लोरिनेसन गर्नुपर्ने हुन्छ ।
