چکمههای سنگینی بپا داشت و از صبح زود تا دیروقتهای شب روی کف مرطوب و پر از چاله میایستاد و در حدود یکصد پوند گوشت گاو را از استخوان جدا میکرد و آماده بود که در فصل رکود تا مدت نامحدودی از کار اخراج شود و در فصل رونق بیش از حد مقرر کار کند و آنقدر از او کار بکشند که اعصابش بکلی خرد شود و کارد لغزنده از دستش بلغزد و زخمی آلوده به او وارد سازد.
