Even though in mission areas the exemption of Religious is in effect within their own lawful sphere, nevertheless, on account of the special circumstances of exercising the sacred ministry in these areas, according to the intention of the Decree Ad Gentes Divinitus, the special statutes issued or approved by the Apostolic See to regulate the relationships between local Ordinaries and Religious superiors, especially in a mission entrusted to an institute, must be observed.

Benché anche nelle terre di Missione sia in vigore l'esenzione dei Religiosi nel suo legittimo campo, tuttavia le circostanze particolari dell'esercizio del sacro ministero in queste regioni richiedono che siano osservate, secondo lo spirito del Decreto Ad gentes divinitus, gli statuti speciali dati o approvati dalla Sede Apostolica in ciò che concerne le relazioni tra l'Ordinario del luogo e il Superiore dei religiosi, soprattutto in una Missione affidata ad un Istituto determinato.

Licet etiam in locis Missionum vigeat exemptio Religiosorum intra ambitum suum legitimum, tamen, propter peculiaria adiuncta sacri ministerii in his locis exercendi, ad mentem Decreti Ad gentes divinitus, observanda sunt specialia statuta a Sede Apostolica data vel approbata quoad rationes inter Ordinarium loci et Superiorem religiosum moderandas, praesertim in Missione alicui Instituto concredita.
