Thus it becomes necessary for every one to guard manfully against the allurements of luxury, and since on every side there is so much ostentation in the enjoyment of wealth, the soul must be fortified against the dangerous snares of riches lest straining after what are called the good things of life, which cannot satisfy and soon fade away, the soul should lose "the treasure in heaven which faileth not."

Pertanto, in mezzo a questa spudorata e dominante licenza, è necessario che ciascuno virilmente si difenda dagli allettamenti della lussuria; e poiché è tanto sfrontata l’ostentazione che si suol fare di una vita agiata ed opulenta, è anche necessario premunire l’animo contro il fascino del lusso e delle ricchezze, affinché il cuore, desiderando quelle cose che si dicono beni ma che non possono sfamarlo e sono fugaci, non venga a perdere un tesoro immarcescibile in cielo.
