A sealing device placed between a cylinder head (1) and a cylinder (2) and composed of a thin detachable cylindrical lining (7) fitted in a bore formed in a block (4), comprises a raised portion (h) before the cylinder head is adjusted and while it is resting on top of the lining, said raised portion being located between the cylinder head and the block and designed to prevent any of the materials forming the cylinder head, the block or the axially compressed lining from reaching their deformational yield limits when the cylinder head (1) is adjusted with a pressure which is greater, allowing for the thickness (e) of the lining, than the maximum force exerted on the cylinder head (1) by gaseous fluid pressure, and sufficiently large to maintain contact between the cylinder head (1) and the lining (7) at all times during the operation of the machine.

Dans un dispositif d'étanchéité entre une culasse (1) et un cylindre (2), constitué d'une chemise cylindrique (7) mince et amovible emmanchée dans un alésage aménagé dans un bâti (4), lorsque la culasse repose, avant serrage de la culasse, sur la surface supérieure de la chemise, il existe, entre la culasse et le bâti, une sur-hauteur (h) telle que, lors du serrage de la culasse, aucun des matériaux constituant la culasse, le bâti et la chemise, comprimée axialement, n'atteigne les limites de déformation élastique, avec une force d'appui supérieure, compte tenu de l'épaisseur (e) de la chemise (7), à la force maximale exercée par la pression du fluide gazeux sur la culasse (1), mais suffisamment grande pour que le contact de chemise (7)/culasse (1) soit maintenu, à tout moment du fonctionnement de la machine.
