The most common complicationsare osteonecrosis, failure of the ostheosynthesis and non-union. A rare complication is migration of one of the screws through the femoral head and the acetabulum into the pelvis after failure of the ostheosynthesis.

Naast de meest voorkomende complicaties, namelijk avasculaire kopnecrose, uitbreken van de osteosynthese en non-union, kan de heupschroef ook door de femurkop penetreren en door het acetabulum naar het kleine bekken migreren.
