في حين أن عولمة العلاقات، ولا سيما في مجال التجارة، أخذت تزداد أهميةً في جميع أنحاء العالم نظرا لما تعود به على البلدان التي تتاجر فيما بينها من منافع اقتصادية في المقام الأول، فقد أدت هذه العولمة أيضا إلى ظهور أو ازدياد الجرائم الجنائية على الصعيد الدولي، كالاحتيال التجاري، وغسل الأموال والاتجار بالأشخاص، مما يؤدي إلى تقويض العلاقات بين الأقطار وإيجاد حالة من عدم الثقة
