இந்தப் பெருவிழா கங்கை நதி தீரத்தில் அமைந்துள்ள பல்வேறு இயக்கங்களை நமது பாரம்பரியத்துடன் ஒருங்கிணைக்கும் வகையில் அமையும். இந்தப் பெருவிழாவில் தூய்மையான கங்கைக்கான தேசியச் செயல்திட்டம், கங்கை விழிப்புப் பயணம் (நமாமி கங்கா ஜாக்ருதி யாத்ரா) அமைப்பு ஆகிய இயக்கத்தினருடன் கல்வியாளர்கள், கலைஞர்கள், கைவினைஞர்கள், எழுத்தாளர்கள், கவிஞர்கள், சுற்றுச்சூழல் மற்றும் பண்பாட்டு அமைப்பினர் ஆகியோர் இணைந்து ஈடுபடுவர்.
