মহীখাত এলাকাসমূহে অধোগতি প্রাপ্ত মহাসাগরীয় প্লেটের বর্জিত পলল সঞ্চিত হতে থাকে এবং এ প্রক্রিয়ার ফলে সঞ্চিত পলিরাশি চাপের ফলে সংকুচিত ও উর্ধ্বমুখে উত্থিত হয়ে পর্বত গঠন করে।
