Conspicuous by their silence in the whole issue were the Faculty Doctors' Association (FDA) and Nepal Professor's Association (NPA), both bodies which were engaged very actively during the earlier fasts of Dr. K C. Earlier in the day, the controversial new Dean Dr. Shashi Sharma formally took the office with extravaganza bordering to drama in which some nursing staffs, employees and some doctors were waiting with garland to welcome him. To make it most ironic, a rabble-rouser doctor who had last year announced to 'burn himself to death' if Dr. KC's demands were not met, was restlessly waiting in the sun to welcome Dr. Sharma. A no. of TUTH employees who had reportedly landed in lucrative positions in the to-be-affiliated Manmohan Medical Colleges were celebrating the occasion with red Tika.
