Estas son: los Pacahuaras, Ese Ejja, Yaminahuas, Tacanas, Caripunas, Cavineños, Machineris y Toromonas, por nombrar solo a los que siguen existiendo. Cuando llegaron los españoles en el siglo XVI, se cuidaron de no pisar las selvas amazónicas, pese al aliciente de la legendaria El Dorado, la ciudad toda de oro y piedras preciosas que estaría enterrada en las profundidades de la Amazonia.
