Nach der Verkehrsplanung der Stadt sollten sich hier zwei U-Bahn-Linien kreuzen: die Grundstrecke B, aus der Altstadt kommend und in Richtung Galluswarte und Höchst weiterfahrend, sowie die Grundstrecke D, die aus Schwanheim und Niederrad kommend in Richtung Messe und Bockenheim führen sollte.
