In fifteen days (from May 16 to May 30, 1931) we marched seven hundred li, fought five battles, captured more than twenty thousand rifles and roundly smashed the enemy's "encirclement and suppression" campaign. When fighting Wang Chin-yu, we were between the two enemy forces under Tsai Ting-kai and Kuo Hua-tsung, some ten li from the latter and forty li from the former, and some people said we were "getting into a blind alley", but we got through all the same.

En quince días (del 16 al 30 de mayo de 1931) cubrimos a más de veinte mil fusiles y aplastamos completamente la campaña de "cerco y aniquilamiento". Cuando atacábamos a Wang Chin-yu, nos encontrábamos entre las unidades de Tsai Ting-kai y las de Kuo Jua-tsung, a unos diez li de éstas y a unos cuarenta li de aquéllas.
