Disclosed is a process for producing a urethane compound, which comprises reacting a primary amine, either urea and/or an N-unsubstituted carbamic acid ester, and an alcohol with one another in the presence of a compound containing a non-coordinating anion and a metal atom which acts as a catalyst.
