The Mercedes-Benz 500I engine was slightly lighter than the Ilmor Indy V8, although because of its longer inlets the center of gravity of the entire engine was higher than that of the 500I, thus changing the overall balance of the car a bit.

El Mercedes-Benz 500i fue apenas un motor pequeño que el Ilmor Indy V8 original, aunque debido a sus tomas debía haberse equilibrado el centro de gravedad con el motor entero, lo que le hizo mayor que el del 500i, cambiando así el equilibrio general del coche un poco.
