وفي 16 أيار/مايو 2006، دعا المقرر الخاص والخبيرة المستقلة المعنية بشؤون الأقليات والمقرر الخاص المعني بالتعذيب وغيره من ضروب المعاملة أو العقوبة القاسية أو اللاإنسانية أو المهينة والمقرر الخاص المعني بالسكن اللائق والمقرر الخاص المعني بالحق في الغذاء والمقرر الخاص المعني بحق كل إنسان في التمتع بأعلى مستوى ممكن من الصحة البدنية والعقلية، حكومة ميانمار إلى اتخاذ تدابير عاجلة لوقف العمليات العسكرية لمحاربة التمرد التي تستهدف المدنيين في منطقتي كاين الشمالية وباغو الشرقية.

On 16 May 2006, the Special Rapporteur together with the Independent Expert on minority issues, the Special Rapporteur on torture and other cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment, the Special Rapporteur on adequate housing, the Special Rapporteur on the right to food and the Special Rapporteur on the right of everyone to the enjoyment of the highest attainable standard of physical and mental health called on the Government of Myanmar to take urgent measures to end the counter-insurgency military operations targeting civilians in Northern Kayin and Eastern Bago areas.

El 16 de mayo de 2006 el Relator Especial, junto con la experta independiente sobre cuestiones de las minorías, el Relator Especial sobre la tortura y otros tratos o penas crueles, inhumanos o degradantes, el Relator Especial sobre una vivienda adecuada, el Relator Especial sobre el derecho a la alimentación y el Relator Especial sobre el derecho de toda persona al disfrute del más alto nivel posible de salud física y mental instaron al Gobierno de Myanmar a adoptar medidas urgentes para poner fin a las operaciones militares antisubversivas contra civiles en la zona septentrional de Kayin y la zona oriental de Bago.

Le 16 mai 2006, avec l’Experte indépendante sur les questions relatives aux minorités, le Rapporteur spécial sur la torture et autres peines ou traitements cruels, inhumains ou dégradants, le Rapporteur spécial sur le logement convenable, le Rapporteur spécial sur le droit à l’alimentation et le Rapporteur spécial sur le droit qu’a toute personne de jouir du meilleur état de santé physique et mentale possible, le Rapporteur spécial a appelé le Gouvernement du Myanmar à prendre d’urgence des mesures pour mettre fin aux opérations militaires anti-insurrectionnelles visant des civils dans le nord de l’État de Kayin et l’est de la Division de Bago.
