To a small influx of Iceland Gulls (of probably more than ten birds, including at least one of the kumlieni subspecies seen by Dani López Velasco) we have to add the observation of a first winter Laughing Gull in the first days of December 2011 (Juan Sagardía), and the recent sighting of a Glaucous Gull in Gijón ́s container harbour (Elías García least one small flock of Little Gulls in a stuary of the western part of the region, several Ring-billed Gulls along the coast and a minimum of three Caspian Gulls (two in Avilés stuary and one in Tina Mayor, in the limit between Asturias and Cantabria provinces).

A una pequeña “invasión” de gaviotas polares (probablemente más de una decena de aves diferentes de una especie que está considerada rareza en nuestro país), incluyendo al menos un ejemplar de la subespecie kumlieni detectado por Dani López Velasco, hay que sumar la observación de una gaviota reidora americana o guanaguanare a principios de diciembre (Juan Sagardía), y el reciente avistamiento de un gavión hiperbóreo (Elías García Sánchez) en el puerto de Gijón. ría de Tina Mayor (en el límite entre Asturias y Cantabria).
