Los filmes pre-revolucionarios rusos, en comparación con la posterior época bolchevique, poseían igualmente grandes innovaciones artísticas e interés cinematográfico, tal y como se puede apreciar en “Mirazhi”, en donde dos divergentes realidades sociales (los ambientes burgueses y sus ociosas vidas en contraste con las clases medias y sus grandes miserias) se entremezclan y dan lugar a estilizados melodramas muy deudores éstos de las grandes obras de la literatura rusa, los cuales inspiraron a no pocos filmes pre-revolucionarios de la época.
