Der Generalsekretär soll Vorschläge zur Förderung der Zusammenarbeit über das gesamte System der Vereinten Nationen hinweg vorlegen und dabei die Funktionen eines gestärkten Wirtschafts- und Sozialrats berücksichtigen, wobei die Sekretariats-Hauptabteilung Wirtschaftliche und Soziale Angelegenheiten als zentrale Stelle für die Unterstützung des Rates fungiert, damit die vorhandenen Ressourcen des Systems der Vereinten Nationen besser genutzt werden können, um den Rat und sein Präsidium umfassender zu unterstützen.

The Secretary-General should make proposals to promote collaboration across the United Nations system, taking account of the functions of a strengthened Economic and Social Council, with the Department of Economic and Social Affairs of the Secretariat serving as a central hub of support for the Council, in order to better utilize existing resources of the United Nations system to broaden support to the Council and its Bureau.

El Secretario General deberá formular propuestas para promover la colaboración en todo el sistema de las Naciones Unidas, teniendo en cuenta las funciones de un Consejo Económico y Social fortalecido, con el Departamento de Asuntos Económicos y Sociales de la Secretaría como centro de apoyo al Consejo, a fin de utilizar mejor los recursos existentes del sistema de las Naciones Unidas para ampliar el apoyo prestado al Consejo y su Mesa.

Генеральному секретарю следует представить предложения по поощрению сотрудничества в рамках системы Организации Объединенных Наций, принимая во внимание функции укрепленного Экономического и Социального Совета и роль Департамента по экономическим и социальным вопросам Секретариата как главного центра поддержки работы Совета, с тем чтобы более эффективно использовать имеющиеся ресурсы системы Организации Объединенных Наций в целях расширения содействия, оказываемого Совету и его Президиуму.
