The flying picket (ie delegations of workers in struggle going to other workplaces to bring other workers into the movement) has been around for a long time: to take the example of Britain alone, the flying picket was famously used in two important struggles during the 1970s: the miners' strikes of 1972 and 1974 when the miners sent pickets to the power stations, and the 1972 building workers' strike, when the builders sent pickets to spread the strike to different building sites.

Este tipo de piquetes (es decir delegaciones de trabajadores en lucha que recorren otros centros de trabajo para que los obreros de estos se sumen al combate) tienen ya una larga tradición. Ciñéndonos únicamente a las experiencias en Gran Bretaña podemos decir que estos piquetes se hicieron ya famosos durante dos importantes luchas de los años 70: la de los mineros de 1972 y 1974 en la que los mineros enviaron piquetes a las centrales eléctricas, o la de los trabajadores de la construcción de 1972, en la que se organizaron delegaciones que extendieron la huelga en otros “tajos”.
