As we had read before, the whole term “floating market” is used quite loosely and often most of the stalls are actually on dry land along a canal. Also here we first walked through a line of stalls on land, but when we got to the pier it was lined on both sides with little boats that doubled as mobile kitchens, selling all sorts of food imaginable and also some that I couldn’t have imagined. This market was mainly about food, there were a few stalls selling random items from souvenirs to plants but most of the stalls sold food.

Kuten olimme etukäteen lukeneet, käsite ”floating market” on vähän epämääräinen ja monesti suurin osa kojuista on itse asiassa kuivalla maalla kanaalin varrella, mutta oli täällä paljon niitä pieniä veneitäkin jotka toimivat myös liikkuvina keittiöinä ja joista myytiin kaikkia kuviteltavissa olevia sekä jopa ihan kuvittelemattomia ruokia. Näillä markkinoilla kyse oli lähinnä ruoasta, lukemattomien ruokakojujen lisäksi sieltä löytyi ehkä yksi matkamuistokoju sekä kokoelma erilaisia satunnaisia kamoja myyviä kojuja, mutta ruokaa siellä oli ihan loputtomiin.
