The method comprises the steps: • Optionally anesthetizing the insect • Fixing the head of the insect • Dissecting out the brain of the insect head thereby removing the brain from its cuticle • Optinally removing the neural lamella of the brain • Treating the brain with a solution of the chemical compound • Washing anf homogenising or ultra sound disintegrating the brain • Determining the concentration of the chemical compound in the homogenised brain material and • Calculating the penetration of the chemical compound through the blood-brain barrier The concentration of the chemical compound is determined by LC/MS and the chemical compound can be a CNS drug.

Le procédé comprend les étapes suivantes : éventuellement l'anesthésie de l'insecte, la fixation de la tête de l'insecte, la dissection du cerveau pour le séparer de la tête de l'insecte et l'extraire ainsi de son cuticule, éventuellement l'élimination de la lamelle neurale du cerveau, le traitement du cerveau avec une solution du composé chimique, le lavage et l'homogénéisation ou la désintégration par ultrasons du cerveau, la détermination de la concentration du composé chimique dans la matière cérébrale homogénéisée, le calcul de la pénétration du composé chimique au travers de la barrière sang-cerveau. La concentration du composé chimique est déterminée par LC/MS et le composé chimique peut être un médicament pour le SNC.
