Spatmagnesitvorkommen treten weit verbreitet in den schwachmetamorphen dolomitischen Serien der Nördlichen Grauwackenzone auf. Selten sind sie im Innsbrucker Quarzphyllit zu finden.

Deposits of sparry magnesite are widespread in both the low grade metamorphic dolomitic rocks of the Nördliche Grauwackenzone and very subordinately in the Innsbrucker Quarzphyllit of the Eastern Alps.
