Dominica's policy towards health is based on the fundamental principle that, “All citizens have the right to attain the highest possible level of health in order to be able to work and live in accordance with acceptable standards of human dignity at an affordable cost.” This principle is upheld in a shared commitment which emphasizes that both the Government and the community are responsible for maintaining and raising the level of health care of the citizens
