His inclination for philosophical and literary studies were the foundation of the Biblioteca Ambrosiana (founded in 1607, opened to public in 1609), one of the cultural vanguards in Europe at the beginning of the Fifteenth century along with the art gallery and, slightly after, the Accademy of Drawing (1620).
