As with several other parts of northern India, this area recorded the presence of Rhinoceros Unicornis even in the 19th century, but habitat loss and excessive hunting decimated its numbers.

उत्तरी भारत के अनेकों क्षेत्रों की भांति इस क्षेत्र द्वारा भी, यहाँ तक की 19 वीं शताब्दी के यूनीकर्न गैंड़ों की उपस्थिति दर्ज की गयी थी, परन्तु प्राकृतिक-वास के क्षीण होने और अत्यधिक शिकार के काऱण इनकी संख्या समाप्त हो गयी थी।
