ومن بين الأربعة أحزاب الرئيسية، وهي حزب البرلمان الملاوي، والحزب التقدّمي الدّيمقراطي، والحزب الدّيمقراطي الموحّد، والحزب الشعبي، قدّمت ثلاثة أحزاب مرشّحين للرئاسة كلّهم ذكور في حين رشّح الحزب الشعبي امرأة لمنصب رئيس ورجلا لمنصب نائب رئيس.

Of the four leading parties, the Malawi Congress Party (MCP); the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP); the United Democratic Front (UDF); and the People’s Party (PP), the MCP, DPP and the UDF have featured an all-male pair for the Presidency while the PP, headed by the incumbent President features a woman for Presidency and a man as running mate.
