ويقدم المكتب المساعدة إلى وكيل الأمين العام لشؤون السلامة والأمن في إعداد الخطة البرنامجية لفترة السنتين، وإعداد وتنفيذ الميزانية البرنامجية والتقارير المتعلقة بها، وإدارة الموارد الخارجة عن الميزانية، وتخطيط الاحتياجات المتصلة بالإدارة العامة للمكاتب ومراقبتها وتنسيقها.

It assists the Under-Secretary-General for Safety and Security in the preparation of the biennial programme plan, the preparation and implementation of the programme budget and reporting thereon, the management of extrabudgetary resources and the planning, control and coordination of requirements related to general office administration.
