স্থানীয় অধিবাসীরা ভালো করেই জানে যে নদীর পানি দূষিত হয়ে গেছে। কারণ সেই এলাকাতে গুরুত্বপূর্ণ কিছু শিল্পপ্রতিষ্ঠান এবং কারখানা গড়ে উঠেছে ( এ সবের মধ্যে রয়েছে মাংস, দুগ্ধজাত দ্রব্য, পানীয়, মণ্ড, এবং কাগজ, চামড়াজাত সামগ্রী, পেট্রোলিয়ামজাত রাসায়নিক উপাদান এবং রাসায়নিক পদার্থ তৈরির কারখানা) এবং এইসব কারখানার বর্জ্য দ্রব্য নদীতে এসে পড়ে।

It is well known among local people that the river is contaminated, as there are important industries and factories in the same area (those that produce meat, dairy, beverages, pulp and paper, leather goods, petrochemical and chemical products) and throw their wastes to the river.

Zij dumpen hun afval allemaal in de rivier.
