Rabín Hilel (60 před n.l.) řekl: „Co je bolestné pro tebe, nečiň ani svým druhům.“ Ježíš jej vyjádřil kladně: „Jak chcete, aby lidé jednali s vámi, tak jednejte vy s nimi.“ Islám má podobnou koncepci rovněž: „Nikdo z vás nevěří, dokud svému bratru nepřeje totéž, co přeje sobě.“

Chr.) sagte: „Was für dich selbst schädlich ist, das füge deinen Mitmenschen nicht zu.“ Jesus drückte dies positiv aus: „Alles nun, was ihr wollt, dass euch die Leute tun sollen, das tut ihnen auch!“ Auch der Islam verfügt über ein ähnliches Konzept: „Keiner von euch glaubt, bis er für seinen Bruder das wünscht, was er sich selbst wünscht.“
