এই উৎসব ঘোষণা করে রমজান মাস শেষ হয়েছে। পবিত্র মাস রমজান পানাহার বন্ধ রাখার মাস। ঈদ কবে অনুষ্ঠিত হবে তা নির্ভর করে নতুন চাঁদ দেখার উপর, যার ফলে বিশ্বের সকল দেশ এবং সম্প্রদায় একই দিনে ঈদ পালন করে না।
