La identificación de los diferentes compuestos estableció que el contenido metabólico de esta especie esta químicamente en concordancia con el de otras especies de Hamelia y con la familia Rubiaceae, sin embargo, esta es la primera ocasión en la que se aíslan cicloartenoles y triterpenos de este género, hecho que aporta nuevas perspectivas en el conocimiento sobre la composición química de esta planta.
