However, given the need to move into line with the best possible safety requirements in anticipation of the above exemption, due to take effect in 2018, the stakeholders — political platforms and parties, mayors, and citizens — all take the view that the Burgos to Armiñón stretch, including the national highway, needs to be the subject of a comprehensive prior study and that a number of adjustments should be made to the toll road to enable it to cope with the expected increase in traffic once tolls have been abolished.

No obstante, y para que esta vía se adecúe a las necesidades de seguridad óptimas cara a la liberalización de 2018, las plataformas y los partidos políticos, alcaldes y ciudadanos afectados consideran necesario un estudio integral previo del tramo Burgos-Armiñón, incluyendo la carretera nacional, y una serie de adaptaciones de la vía de peaje para que asuma el previsible incremento de tráfico a partir de la supresión del peaje.
