The present invention relates to a display device comprising: a display unit having a backlight module located at the rear surface of a display panel and providing light quantity; a backlight drive unit for controlling the light quantity of the backlight module; a luminance sensor for sensing the light quantity of the backlight and outputting same into a voltage value; an A/D converter for converting the outputted analog voltage value into a digital light quantity value; and a control unit for controlling the light quantity value measured at N-dimension to be set as an initial target value of the light quantity when the light quantity value measured at N-dimension using the luminance sensor is same as the light quantity value measured at (N-1)-dimension.

본 발명은 디스플레이 패널의 후면에 위치하여 광량을 공급하는 백라이트 모듈을 포함하는 디스플레이부, 상기 백라이트 모듈의 광량을 제어하는 백라이트 구동부, 상기 백라이트의 광량을 감지하여 전압값으로 출력하는 조도 센서,상기 출력된 아날로그 전압값을 디지털 광량값으로 변환시키는 A/D 컨버터, 및 상기 조도 센서에 의하여 N차에 측정된 광량값과 (N-1)차에 측정된 광량값이 동일한 경우, N차에 측정된 광량값을 초기 목표 광량값으로 설정하도록 제어하는 제어부를 포함하여 이루어지는 디스플레이 장치를 제공한다.
