The 108N, 51I and 437G mutations prevail in the populations of P. falciparum, indicating a cumulative effect of mutations and the need to continue surveillance for other changes which can lead to the total loss of the efficacy of sulphadoxine-pyrimethamine.

En las poblaciones de P. falciparum analizadas prevalecen los alelos asparagina 108, isoleucina 51 y glicina 437, lo que indica un efecto acumulativo de mutaciones y la necesidad de vigilar la aparición de nuevos alelos mutantes que puedan conducir a la pérdida total de la eficacia de la sulfadoxina-pirimetamina.
