The method of the present invention involves: determining a filtering boundary for which deblocking filtering is to be performed on the basis of at least one data unit of encoding units hierarchically configured in accordance with the depth which indicates the number of spatial partitions performed on a maximum encoding unit, prediction units for prediction of the encoding units, and transformation units for transformation of the encoding units; determining a filtering strength at the filtering boundary on the basis of a prediction mode of an encoding unit to which pixels adjacent to the determined filtering boundary belong and on the basis of transform coefficient values of pixels adjacent to the filtering boundary; and performing deblocking filtering on the basis of the determined filtering strength.

본 발명에 따르면 최대 부호화 단위의 공간적 분할 횟수를 나타내는 심도에 따라 계층적으로 구성되는 부호화 단위들과 부호화 단위의 예측 및 변환을 위한 예측 단위들 및 변환 단위들 중 적어도 하나의 데이터 단위에 기초하여 디블록킹 필터링을 수행할 필터링 경계를 결정하고, 결정된 필터링 경계를 기준으로 인접한 픽셀들이 속하는 부호화 단위의 예측 모드 및 필터링 경계에 인접한 픽셀들의 변환 계수값들에 기초하여 필터링 경계에서의 필터링 강도를 결정하며, 결정된 필터링 강도에 기초하여 디블록킹 필터링을 수행한다.
