ويجيز كل من القانون الجنائي وقانون دائرة الاستخبارات الأمنية الكندية مراقبة أجهزة الاتصال الإلكتروني لأشخاص معينين أو معروفين شريطة تزويد القاضي المطلوب منه إصدار الإذن بالمعلومات الكافية وشريطة أن يحدد القاضي نطاق هذه المراقبة.

Electronic surveillance under both the Criminal Code and the Canadian Security Intelligence Service Act can be directed at known persons or unknown persons, provided that there is a sufficient degree of specificity in the information provided to the issuing judge and included in the warrant or authorization to limit the scope of the surveillance.
