It is developing as a major economy with diversifications viz., exploring deep sea resources, eco-friendly capture fishing and aquaculture practices for culture of finfish, shell fish, ornamental fish culture, coastal-tourism, fish processing units, etc. The Government is giving utmost importance for protecting the traditional fishing rights of our fishermen and has also introduced many fishermen welfarel development schemes with a long term vision to ensure safety and social security of fishers in the State.

மாநிலத்திலுள்ள மீனவர்களின் சமூக பாதுகாப்பினை உறுதி செய்திட தொலைநோக்கு பார்வையுடன் மீனவர்களுக்கு பல்வேறு நலம்/மேம்பாட்டுத் திட்டங்களை செயல்படுத்தி பாரம்பரிய மீன்பிடி உரிமையை பாதுகாப்பதிலும், மீனவர் நலன் பேணுவதிலும் அரசு அதிமுக்கியத்துவம் அளித்து வருகிறது.
