I have to pretend to have no idea what they’re saying when they ask “entiendes español?” (do you understand Spanish) but they don’t seem to understand when I reply with “I only speak English”.

Tengo que pretender que no tienen idea de lo que están diciendo cuando le preguntan "Entiendes espanol?" pero no parecen entender cuando respondo con “I only speak English” (solo hablo Inglés).
