By 1925, the castle had been renovated into a local museum, banquet hall, restaurant and youth hostel. At the end of the Twenties, the North Tower again proved to be the weak point of the architecture, and had to be supported by guy wires in winter 1932/33; the preservation of the castle was supported by the "Club for the preservation of the Wewelsburg" (Verein zur Erhaltung der Wewelsburg).

Al año siguiente, 1925, el castillo ya era un museo, un salón de banquetes, un restaurante y un albergue juvenil.[2] A finales de los años veinte, la torre norte mostraba signos de debilidad estructural y en el invierno de 1932/33 tuvieron que instalarse tirantes. La conservación del castillo fue impulsada por el Club para la preservación de Wewelsburg (Verein zur Erhaltung der Wewelsburg) aunque a partir de 1925 las tareas de renovación decrecieron en ritmo.[3]
