ويقوم مفهوم القوة الشرائية على افتراض أن قيمة وحدة إحدى العملات ترتبط ارتباطاً وثيقاً بكمية السلع والخدمات التي يمكن أن تشتريها في بلد إصدارها، أي قوتها الشرائية الداخلية.
