By this time it has begun to dawn on me that this sequence of events is not a linear sequence but a circular one — I had the tension, I did something to get rid of it and everything was OK, then I find myself back here in the symptoms once again. I am caught in a vicious circle which is like a noose gradually tightening around me the more I try to escape it.

Parvenu à ce stade, il m’apparut que cette séquence d’événements n’était pas une séquence linéaire, mais circulaire. J’éprouve une tension, je fais quelque chose pour m’en débarrasser, tout s’arrange, puis je suis à nouveau cerné par les symptômes. Je suis pris dans un cercle vicieux pareil à un noeud coulant qui m’enserre davantage à chaque tentative pour m’en échapper.
