At the same meeting, Santiago Borrero, President of the Pan American Institute of Geography and History (PAIGH), presented the paper entitled “Regional and national spatial data infrastructure in the Americas: institutional and capacity-building issues” (E/CONF.96/I.P.3), highlighting the fact that Latin America, with multiple spatial data infrastructure initiatives, was seriously examining the importance of having a regional spatial data infrastructure.

En la misma sesión, el Sr. Santiago Borrero, Presidente del Instituto Panamericano de Geografía e Historia (IPGH), presentó el documento titulado “Regional and national Spatial Data Infrastructure in the Americas: institutional and capacity-building issues” (La infraestructura regional y nacional de datos espaciales en América: cuestiones institucionales y de fomento de la capacidad) (E/CONF.96/J.P.3), en el que subrayó el hecho de que América Latina, que contaba con numerosas iniciativas en materia de infraestructura de datos espaciales, estaba estudiando seriamente la importancia de contar con una infraestructura regional de datos espaciales.

À la même séance, Santiago Borrero, Président de l’IPGH, a présenté l’exposé intitulé « Infrastructures de données spatiales régionale et nationale dans les Amériques : problèmes institutionnels et de renforcement des capacités » (E/CONF.96/I.P.3), lequel soulignait que l’Amérique latine, qui avait lancé de multiples initiatives en la matière, comprenait bien les avantages que présentait une infrastructure de données spatiales régionale.
