8¿ ein Wasserstoffatom, einen Alkylrest mit 1 bis 4 C-Atomen, einen Cyclohexyl- oder Cyclopentylrest oder einen Rest der Formel -CH¿2?-CH¿2?-OH oder -CH¿2?-CH¿2?-O-CH¿2?-CH¿2?-OH bedeutet, mit einem Sauerstoff enthaltenden Gas in Gegenwart von Kupfer und/oder Silber enthaltenden Katalysatoren und einer unter Reaktionsbedingungen flüchtigen Phosphorverbindung in einer Menge, so daß die Phosphormenge (berechnet als P), bezogen auf die Gewichtsmenge an eingesetztem Alkohol, bis zu 20 ppm beträgt, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß die Phosphormenge innerhalb der Katalysatorschüttung zugegeben wird.
