Auf diesem Glaubensweg hilft der Kirche das Gedenken an die selige Jungfrau Maria, die »im Himmel schon mit Leib und Seele verherrlicht, [...] auch hier auf Erden [...] als Zeichen der sicheren Hoffnung und des Trostes dem wandernden Gottesvolk voranleuchtet« .141 Es ist eine Hoffnung, die sich auch aus dem Gedächtnis der Märtyrer und der anderen Heiligen nährt, »die, durch Gottes vielfältige Gnade zur Vollkommenheit geführt, das ewige Heil bereits erlangt haben, Gott im Himmel das vollkommene Lob singen und Fürsprache für uns einlegen« .142

In this journey of faith, the Church is sustained by the “memory of the Virgin Mary, who, already glorified in body and soul in heaven... shines forth as a sign of sure hope and comfort for the pilgrim People of God''.141 It is a hope which is likewise nourished by the commemoration of the martyrs and the other saints, who, ''having attained perfection through the manifold grace of God and now possess eternal salvation, sing perfect praise to God in heaven and make intercession for us''.142

W tym itinerarium wiary Kościół jest umacniany wspomnieniem Dziewicy Maryi, która, « jak w niebie (...) doznaje już chwały co do ciała i duszy, tak tu na ziemi (...) przyświeca pielgrzymującemu Ludowi Bożemu jako znak niezachwianej nadziei i pociechy ».141 Nadzieję tę ożywia również wspomnieniem męczenników i innych świętych, « którzy dzięki wielorakiej łasce doszli do doskonałości, a osiągnąwszy już wieczne zbawienie, wyśpiewują Bogu w niebie doskonałą chwałę i wstawiają się za nami ».142
