تتألف المجموعة المواضيعية الخاصة بالسلام والأمن التي تتولى تنظيمها إدارة الشؤون السياسية بالأمانة العامة من ثلاثة مجموعات فرعية هي: الهيكل المخصص للسلام والأمن في الاتحاد الأفريقي؛ وإعادة البناء والتنمية بعد انتهاء النزاع؛ وحقوق الإنسان والعدالة والمصالحة.
