The vacuum cleaner includes: a cleaner main body; a dust case detachably mounted in the cleaner main body, and having a dust collecting body for defining a dust storage chamber to store dust therein and a lower cover provided at the lower side of the dust collecting body for opening and closing the dust storage chamber; a pressing member movably mounted in the dust collecting body for compressing the dust in the dust storage chamber, and having a rotation shaft and a pressing plate connected to the rotation shaft; a transmission section provided at the lower side of the lower cover for transmitting power received from the outside; and a connection member provided at the upper side of the lower cover for transmitting the power received from the transmission section to the rotation shaft.
